The Hispano Philanthropic Society (HPS) Scholarship recognizes and supports New Mexico students of Hispanic heritage who demonstrate academic commitment, leadership potential, and a strong desire to advance the Hispanic community. The scholarship is open to eligible high school seniors and currently enrolled undergraduate students pursuing higher education in New Mexico.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:
Be a resident of New Mexico
Be of Hispanic descent
Be either:
A current high school senior planning to enroll in higher education, or
A currently enrolled undergraduate student
Plan to attend or be enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical program in New Mexico
Have a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 3.5 at the time of application

A completed application form
A typed essay (1,000 words or less) describing a community problem you care deeply about. What is one realistic solution you would pursue, and how would you build support for it?
One (1) letter of recommendation

A photo of the applicant
Scholarship Requirements:
Recipients must:
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 while receiving the award
Attend at least one HPS event for scholarship recognition
Maintain a minimum of two points of communication per semester with an assigned HPS mentor
Submit a personal statement outlining educational and career goals, leadership experience, alignment with the HPS mission, and how the scholarship will support their academic journey
Additional Information:
Preference may be given to first-generation college students and those who demonstrate leadership through school, community organizations, or cultural activities.
